Marshmallow Heaven!

Cincinnati is home to so many great sweet treats, and this new one is no exception. Quaintrelle Confections’ adorable owner Meggie Kraus doesn’t even like marshmallows…or at least not the store-bought kind. After you try hers you will be the same.
She started dabbling in marshmallow making when she was waiting for her next dig as an archeologist. She was watching Food Network and thought she would give it a try. She wanted to take the marshmallows to another level without adding the junk! No high fructose corn syrup, no preservatives, no artificial colors…just plain, good stuff. As it turns out, doing this made them softer, creamier and really fluffy.

Meggie has been selling these scrumptious mallows all over town at farmers markets, so you may have tried them if you were lucky enough to get them before they sold out. Now you can pick them up anytime you want. Even better, you can nosh on a S’more while you’re there too! Pick a creation that she’s come up with like the Coconut Caramel (as in the Girl Scout cookie… flipping amazing!). The Coconut Caramel, for example, would have a big graham cracker topped with a fluffy square mallow, caramel and chocolate drizzle and coconut flakes. There’s also the Special “Crispie” of the Day! Like a gourmet Rice Krispie treat.

You can also opt to create your own and use the “build your own bar” with a great selection of toppings and different flavored marshmallows. Or just pop in and grab a bag to take home (or eat in the car…shhh).

I’m telling you, this place has quite a following! While I was there people were coming in non-stop. She has many repeat customers, including one trucker who said he’s not allowed to pass through Cincy without grabbing some marshmallows to take home to his wife!

•No tables to sit and hangout (due to funky laws), so just know that going in. They’re served in easy-to-eat take-out bowls.
