Lonely Pine Steakhouse: Cool new spot in Pleasant Ridge3 min read

Jacob Trevino, the master- mind behind some of Cincinnati’s quirkiest and fun bars, has ventured into the restaurant business. His newest creation is Lonely Pine and it’s the town’s newest steak house.  As expected, it’s very cool. As Jacob describes it, he combined the vibes of Route 66, Cowboy and Mad Men all in one. He wanted it to reflect what he remembers growing up in Texas. I felt like I was thrown back into childhood with the mid-century feel as soon as I walked in. Lonely Pines’ goal is to be a laidback, high end, steak place and I think they have nailed it.

You can view your cuts of meat in the entrance right at the meat counter. There will always be about 5 cuts of high-end meats provided by butcher Sam Mischenko and a wonderful menu inspired by head chef Jared Beckman. They offer a handful of toppers “Stack your Steak” selection to put on your steak. When my husband took a bite of his Wagyu steak he said, “this meat is so good I don’t think it need the sauce”. Although, when he finally dove into the “Lonely Pine steak sauce,” he lit up with how tasty it was. In addition, to the regular menu there is a wine, steak, dessert and cocktail of the week. I tried the Skirt Steak, which happened to be the steak of the week, topped with a guacamole concoction that had a little kick and was so flipping good. I suggested to Jacob to make that topping an option on the menu! There are a wide variety of sides to share. We had the cooked carrots which were really good … were still a little crisp and cooked with pancetta –a lot of delish.  We also tried the bone marrow appetizer which is unique and probably something that most haven’t tried. You actually scoop the marrow right out of the actual bone and spread it on toasted bread. The new tradition at Lonely Pines is to order a shot of whiskey and pour it down the split bone and do the shot like a luge! Ha-ha
