A New Game In Town… Fowling!3 min read

What is it? 

Fowling (foe-ling) is football and bowling mixed together. Fowling is to Michigan as Cornhole is to Cincinnati. Opening May 3^rd, this will be the first location outside of Michigan where you can play this game. The Fowling Warehouse a  50,000 sq. ft. warehouse offers plenty of room for fun.  The space is set up with lots of cornhole sets but you play with bowling pins instead of throwing bean bags. The object is simple you need to knock down all of your opponent’s bowling pins — with a football.  What is not so simple is doing just that! Seriously, all I could think of was Marsha Brady’s nose when I was lobbing that ball across the “field”. I told Ernest Lawrence, the guy who has been hands on literally helping weld and build a lot of the interior, “You have to pay attention, or you might clobber the person next to you. Especially if you are as a bad at throwing as I am!” He did say the bonus to being a bad aim is if you hit some of the pins on other people’s boards, it counts for them so they may be ok with it. HAHAHA.  This game is really fun for everyone!  There is a tricky way to win a game a lot faster… If you knock down the back middle pin  #5 off the board and nothing else falls down that is called a “bonk.” If you get a “bonk” not only do you automatically win but you get to run over by the bar and pull the pin down and a really loud fog horn will let everyone in Cincinnati know that you had a “bonk”!

How much? 

There are 30 lanes – with 15 for walk-ins or open play. You can get a wristband to play all day. When there is a packed house, they will rotate play by having the loser go to the back of the line. So, you may meet some new folks by ending up playing with strangers. If you want to reserve lanes there are 15 more courts for larger parties. 10 people $120 for 2 hour minimum. For regular play it is $10 per person for all day!

What’s do drink? 

There are 2 bars that will have a rotating tap of 12 different brews and it’s the cool “bottoms up” beer dispenser … so fun!  They will also have 100 other beers along with the “Mystery Beer” machine. You pay either $2, $3 whatever price point you chose, and they grab and give it .. get what you get and like it! :) They have a decent stage for bands or D.J. and tons of TV’s.

Food?

BYOF – NO food will be served so you can bring in anything you want.

Fun facts:

The bar is 48 ft. which is the length of a bowling alley.

•Monday – Friday 5:00-11:00, Sat-Sun Noon- 6:00 (kids will be able to play but NO KIDS under 10 & up to be indoors.) then             adults only until ??

• 2940 Highland Ave. Ok it looks like you should be driving your rig to the loading dock but keep going all the way back and around to the right.
